BDA THERAPY - LIVE COURSE
BDA COURSE PART I:
Lecture
For all new program participants, the course begins with a lecture – Introduction to BDA Therapy.
The aim of the lecture is to familiarize parents/trainees with the BDA therapy basics, which enables parents to understand how therapy works and how they will be able to help their child through the implementation of the program.
For the participants already in the BDA program and those who are not coming to the course for the first time, we organize lectures where we cover topics of great importance for any family who has a child with developmental disorders and disabilities. The topics are as follows: stretching as a procedure for people with neurological conditions and diseases, the issue of verticalisation, subluxation and luxation of the hip joint, etc.
Lectures are organized for each level separately. So, for the parents who listen to the second, third, fourth, or fifth lecture, the courses are as different as the topics we cover.
Duration: It can be different, depending on whether you are listening to the first, second, third, fourth or fifth lecture. Mostly lectures last for 2 hours, except the first one which can last for 3 hours.
BDA COURSE PART II:
Child/Adult Condition Assessment
The assessment of the condition of a child/adult is conducted individually. At the examination, the BDA Assessor (a person who assesses the child’s procena-stanjacondition and prescribes the program) performs a large number of clinical tests in order to clearly identify the child’s problems, as well as the structural weaknesses of his or her body to work on, in order to achieve the best possible progress in the child’s development.
The entire assessment is photographed and recorded. At every follow-up examination, the whole process is repeated, which allows comparison of photos at every examination with the photos from the previous ones, so that parents are clearly shown the changes that have occurred, both in body structure and motor and other functions.
At the end of the course, parents will receive comparative photos of their child’s progress, so that they can save them in their own records.
Based on the child’s examination, the BDA Assessor determines/prescribes an individual exercise program and introduces this program in detail to the BDA therapist who will train the parents.
Duration: 1,5 – 2h.
BDA COURSE PART II:
Child/Adult Condition Assessment
Training is divided into of 3 segments:
• Introduction to the BDA techniques. Parents attending a BDA training for the first time start by having a BDA therapist train the parents in basic.
• BDA techniques. During this session, techniques will be demonstrated to the parents, so that they can feel and understand the actual impact of the exercises. Next, parents will practice the implementation of these techniques on the therapists who will guide, monitor and correct them.
• The application of the BDA technique onto a child: the BDA therapist demonstrates exercises on the child, after which the parents repeat the exercise on the child as demonstrated by the therapist.
• While the therapist is showing the exercise on the child, while at the same time explaining in detail the elements of the exercise, the parents record the exercise so that they can repeat it at home.
• Parents repeat and practice the conducting of the exercise on the child.
This process is carried out under the supervision of a therapist who guides, corrects, and helps parents solidify their learning.
After the course, parents have the opportunity to contact their BDA therapist if they have any questions or concerns regarding the implementation of the program.
Parents can also contact their assessor if they have any questions about the child’s progress process and any other issues related to the rehabilitation process, or if they need an expert opinion or advice.
Communication can be maintained via WhatsApp, Viber, and if necessary via Skype.
Useful information that can help you better prepare for the BDA course:
• Please bring with you a USB flash drive of at least 16GB.
Make sure the USB flash drive is empty or nearly empty. Experience has shown that it often happens that the USB flash drive we get from parents is low on space because of the content on it.
• Since you will be recording the exercises that the BDA therapist demonstrates, you can do this with your phone or camera; however, please make sure you leave a lot of space in the memory of the device (especially if it is a phone you are using). Experience has shown that such a small thing as the insufficient storage space on your device’s available memory often leads to the loss of 1 to 2 hours of valuable time during the course, and interferes with the concentration and fluidity of the exercise demonstration and learning process.
• If you are a family attending the first BDA course, you will need a set of materials necessary to carry out the program at home.
You can get most of the materials on the course; your BDA therapist will explain to you where you can get everything we don’t have on the course.
If you are a returning family, it is common that in addition to the materials you already have, you should get one or two items (e.g. extra balls, etc.).
IMPORTANT: You are not obliged to purchase the materials on the course. If you decide to get them yourself, a BDA therapist will compile a list of everything you need to carry out the program at home.
